The shaft height refers to the length of a boot, starting from the top of the heel to the top of the boot. Depending on the design, this can range from ankle-length to over-the-knee to thigh-high.
The shaft circumference refers to the fullest part of the boot shaft. To determine how a boot shaft will fit you, measure the fullest part of your calf and compare it to the boot's shaft circumference.
